was just looking at webcams for windows hello and noticed they are all really expensive so i was thinking it should be possible to use a laptop webcam that supports windows hello to get it on desktop.

As laptop webcams use internal usb ports they are essentialy just normal webcams so if i solder a usb cable to one it should as far as i know just work.

to get the webcam i would just buy one off of a spare parts site or buy a broken laptop with windows hello support, both options should be cheaper than buying a desktop windows hello cam.

so now im just wondering does anyone know a reason why this wouldnt work or should i give it a shot. might also be worth a video from @LinusTech
