So I got my Corsair 860i yesterday, installed it, and everything worked fine. I decided to redo the canle management and now i dont get a green light whe i self test the 24pin connector. I'm trying to avoid the truth here but do you think my motherboard is a goner? It's a gigabyte x79-ud3. Also, The self test is green with any other connector.

Yes, I have tries unplugging and plugging back in a few times.

I don't know if this will work, but isolate the board (unplug everything from it) and then take out the CMOS battery. Something similar happened to me once, and this fixed it.

Just the cables. And for the battery, take it out for maybe 10 minutes (to make sure the board has time to discharge a little bit), then put it back in.

Alright. Don't expect me to respond for at least 8 hours. Gotta get to bed (have to wake up in 7 hours ).

Have you visually inspected the socket?

Have you checked that both motherboard power cables are secure and that the cpu fan is plugged in? (both old and new psu)

I did not remove the cpu so I dont see it being a problem. I have come to conclusion that I am going to have to call gigabyte tomorrow and see if i can RMA the board. By the way, the pc turns on for about 2-3 seconds and shuts off and continues to do so. This is what it did to my buddy who's motherboard came DOA. Thanks for the help though!

When diagnosing problems never assume.

It could well be the motherboard but a common reason for rapid shut downs is the cpu overheating or thinking it is overheating.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

You make very good points but in this case I am pretty certain it is the motherboard as it is the only thing that fails the psu self test. I am going to do more diagnosing tomorrow before I call in.
