This is my 2nd gaming rig that I have owned that my friend helped me build (He has built a few of his own and my first PC).  Everything seemed to have gone perfectly until we were downloading Windows through a USB stick my friend accidentally turned the PC off using the power button while putting on a side panel.  We went back and cleared all of the partitions and did a fresh install of windows that went off without issue.  I updated and installed all my drivers using Driver Booster and my GPU drivers using NVIDA GeForce.  Everything seemed to be working perfectly till after a few hours my mouse started stuttering all over the screen and audio became very choppy almost like I was having internet issues even though I wasn't.  I tried to turn my computer off using the windows shut down basic method and my monitors turned off, but my computer, mouse, keyboard, and headset all remained turned on.  After waiting and being afraid of using the power button on my PC to shut everything down about 3-4 minutes went by and my monitors just turned back on like I never shut my computer down.  I then tried to do a restart and my computer just kept spinning on restarting and ended with a blue screen saying there was a "Driver Power State Failure".

I have tried doing a fresh install 2 more times after that, but the same issues keep on popping up with the mouse and audio stuttering and computer not shutting off properly.  I went and checked the MoBo website and saw that there was a recent Bios update which I updated and did another fresh install of windows but the issues keep on popping up.  Is there any chance I have defective hardware or does anyone have advice on what issues I might be running in to?  If you need any additional information or if I can do anything else to help please feel free to ask and I will do my best to be as clear as possible with my response.

Still had my old build and swapped out my 3700x with my 2600x CPU's to see if it was either the motherboard or CPU causing problems, but the random spikes can show up after 10 mins or 10 hours so still don't know if its an issue.  Anyone have any other ideas I've seen some similar threads pop up with the same issues as mine.

Are you using Driver Booster every time to install everything? I would recommend to avoid that and instead get the latest drivers direct from ASUS for everything on the mb and see if the problem still comes up.

Take your BIOS settings back to optimized defaults too if you've made any changes.

BIOS was set to optimized defaults after both fresh installs but I will definitely look into using ASUS for my mobo drivers.  Thanks for the tip.

I feel very very stupid right now, but figured I would rather ask and be educated.  I installed Armoury Crate which is ASUS's control panel type software and when I went to the drivers section it said I needed to install AMD Chipset Driver and Realtek Audio Driver.  There was no latest version or anything so I don't think they were ever installed.  Would this be the reason for the problems I was having?

Less so for the audio driver but the lack of chipset drivers could definitely be causing it. Hopefully you see good results after installing the direct Asus drivers.
