HyperX cloud orbit not working with xbox

Got this headset to use with my PC and Xbox, works great on PC but doesn’t work on Xbox at all and hyperX explicitly says it does. According to the manual the headset has to be charged and turned on, then plugged into the controller with the 3.5mm jack, but that doesn’t work, any ideas?
