Toslink Bug on Netflix

Go to solution Solved by KamiMadara,

Man this is akward,

Posting somthing and then randomly clicking stuff and it solves it.
So, sorry for everyone trying to troubleshot this.

Well, I went to the Audio settings, as I didn't expect Netflix to be the source of the problem, afterall I havn't found many simmular problems on the web at that time.

So I looked up the Audio Settings, and tryed to test run the supported formates, as the first time I tryed it some other programm did put the Audio Out Put in a deathlock,

so Windows showed me an Error messaged when trying this. And after Restarting the system a few times to try and solve it, I simply forgot to check the settings for the digital output again.

So, the formates Windows "approved" for my 2.1. Sound System where DTS Audio ... and Dolby Digital, and the second one is the problem, I made the test run, and got the same ugly sound as I got it on Netflix.
I disabeld the Dolby Digital Format and now everything is running fine.

Again, sorry for opening a thread when it could be solved that easly :/ But maybe this helps someone else in their journy

hey guys,

first off all, English is not my first language, so there might be a few gramatical or spelling errors here, pleace excuse them for now :)

Okey to my problem,
I recently switched to Edifier Studio R1280DB

I'm running them with an Digital Toslink output of my PC Mainboard, as the Analog output isn't always starting up for some reasons .

As far as I can tell, every application besides Netflix is working flawless
But as soon as I open Netflix, I get an quite loud, quite high pitched pop / bang sound - I'm not even sure how to discribe the sound in my native language.
-basicly the sound you would expect to hear when killing your sound system.

After that, Netflix won't replay any sounds, and If I avoid the bang, by skipping the auto playback of the advertised titel the Application still won't run any sound.

First time it happend, the sound of the whole PC went off, and I had to restart the system.

Afterwards I tried it several times again, always the same outcome, high pitched loud bang, and afterwards no sound on netflix, but the other applications still had sound after the second time.

I also reinstalled Netflix but without any results.
Switching the Toslink Cable isn't doint it aswell.
Using regular Analog Audio is working with thos boxes, but as I said, my mainboard has there some issus so I would preffer not having to use this again - and of curse it's bugging me, that somthing that should work isn't.

My Specs: Ryzen 2700X, Gigabyt Aorus X470 Gaming 7 Wifi F8, Windows 10 (not the latest version, as I'm writing my exames right now, so I can't afford any Windows mess ups)

I know it's not much to work with, but maybe some of you have an Idea on how to solve it, I aleardy tryed reddit with no awnser aswell...

And thanks for any advice you may be able to give me.

Yeah, I was in the middle of posting that you should try PCM audio codec on your system.

Glad you got it sorted.

Edit:

I was thinking that you had your setup as dolby, or auto (where it defaults to whatever the codec of the media that is playing), and toslink doesnt play well with Dolby formats. Toslink is rather limited as its a much older technology.

Glad you got it sorted.
