Hi everyone, I have a MSI X570-Gaming Plus motherboard paired with a Ryzen 5 3600x.. I originally have a TForce Delta RGB 2x8GB configured with 3200mhz without any problem.. I recently bought the exact same kit to run 4x8GB on my 4 dimm slots. My problem is that it only run on default at 2400mhz. My computer wont boot up whenever I try to enable XMP profiles or manually set the dram frequency to 3200mhz on my bios. Would like to ask help from anyone here

My Suggestion is to take the original kit out of the system and put the new kit in and see if XMP will work.   I am just trying to isolate if the kits are somehow incompatible with each other or if one kit has a bad DIMM.

I've tried putting the newer 2x8GB and they work just fine at 3200mhz

And you have the original kit in DIMM slot 1,2 with the new kit in DIM slot 3,4 and that is when the XMP profile no longer works?

I tried placing the older pair on the 2nd and 4th, newers one on 1st and 3rd and vice versa. It runs on default 2400mhz, but not on xmp1/2 at 3200mhz

I am no expert with this stuff but I will explain why I think it works.  I have the MSI b450 Tomahawk Max motherboard and here is a picture from the manual showing the DIM Slots:

image.png.020dcdc4cc69ebba20e8e36d31bdcc8b.png

As you can see DIM slots 1 and 2 belong to the DIMMA bank and dim slots 3 and 4 belong to the DIMMB bank.  Dual channel is done by using the 2x8 to put one DIMM in bank A and the other DIMM in bank B.  This splits up the pair. You were actually pairing and old DIMM with a new DIMM by just adding the DIMM to the open slots.   My suggestion was to keep the DIMM kits together in each DIMM bank.

You still get all the benefits of Dual channel but each kit is in its own bank without being mixed.  Each kit is tested for compatibility with each other (not other kits) and paired up.   So it is best to keep kits together.   I believe this is why in a lot of cases you will see folks suggest to just buy a 4x8 kit or a 2x16 kit instead of doing what you just did.   I am hoping others on LTT that know far more about this will update the thread to let us know how off I am on all this.

I really hope that makes some sense.   I am not the best at explaining things.

This actually saved me from selling the kits and buying a new one.. I just stressed tess my computer for 6hrs gaming and video editing without any problem and I've been restarting the system a couple of time too.. Everything makes sense now, I just hope that this was more of a common knowledge, I never saw anyone suggesting to place the rams on paired dimm slots.

Thanks again @PyroTheWise! This actually saved me from selling the ram sticks and getting a newer set altogether

I read the whole manual and never found any solution on the dimm slot problem tho. It just says to put the slots on normal positions withouth the right pairing and all of the info on xmp was normal. I also consulted team group's support page and msi and no clear answer was given to me other than to have it replaced.

So unlike your comment @ShrimpBrime,@PyroTheWise really helped a lot 🙂
