Hey! First post on the forum and planning to build my first PC.

I'm looking at putting together a mid level PC that I can use for a variety of things. I'm not really a gamer but do spend a lot of time using CAD software and Adobe programs for my Architecture studies as well as visualization rendering in applications like Vray. I don't really have the budget for any kind of high end workstation hardware but my aim is to have something more capable than my current laptop. Ideally the PC should last at least 3 years. I also run at least 2 monitors most of the time.

My current parts list is:

CPU: Ryzen 3600

MOBO: MSI B450M Mortar Max (Micro ATX with reflashable bios for the 3600 cpu)

RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16gb (2x8) 3200mHz

GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 Super 6gb
PSU: Coller Master Master Watt 550W 80+ Bronze (Semi-modular)

SSD: Western Digital Blue SN550 500gb M.2-2280 NVMe (Just for main programs and windows)

NETWORKING CARD: Asus PCE-AC58BT Wifi and BT adapter

CASE: Cooler Master MasterBox NR400 Micro ATX Mid-tower

A lot of the parts i selected are on the cheaper end but figured they might go alright for my needs.

Any advice or problems that anyone spots or feedback is appreciated!!

Cheers

The msi board shouldn’t need to be flashed before you install the ryzen 3600. All msi b450 MAX motherboards come preupdated for the ryzen 3000 series.

Personal advice I’d give myself for my first build;

1. Add a old school hdd for raw storage

2. Buy a used wifi card
3. Get a fancier power supply
