Is there some online "compatibility checker" (considering both i5 and ryzen...actually idk if ryzen also has that kind of BIOS problems) where I can check If "my" processor will work with "my" motherboard without BIOS updates? Or should I ask elsewhere (for ex. on this web page) for specific hardware?

pcpartpicker.com

Every motherboard that will support multiple cpu generations will have this problem. There are boards which are guaranteed to work as they may already have the update installed (eg MSI MAX boards for ryzen chips) or a new chipset.

Could require a bios update, but yes it does.

Do you already own this cpu?

B365 motherboards are guaranteed compatible with 9th gen CPUs. A cheap one of those would do nicely.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

I do not have it yet, but I want to stay somewhere between 170-220. I do not want to overclock and I dont need an intergrated graphics. What about that BIOS update? I have never done that before. Kinda afraid of doing that.

Do you already own this motherboard as well?

Bios update is when you flash new firmware onto your motherboard. You have to ensure the system remains powered on the entire time, could brick the board if the power is cut mid update.

If you don't own any of these parts, I'd urge you to look at a 3600 and a cheaper B450 motherboard.

I want to build a PC so I do not own anything from that PC but this laptop im currently typing on.

How do I update BIOS? Do I need to buy and download a software? Is it done by plugging some storage device into the Motherboard? Do I need to put in a CPU and RAM to update it?

Okay then I would absolutely look at ryzen instead, the 9400f doesn't have a place with AMD's current offerings.

To update you'd need a previous generation chip to boot it initially, then you'll insert a usb with the update files on it. So yes, you'll need your full system to update the board

Is there some online "compatibility checker" (considering both i5 and ryzen...actually idk if ryzen also has that kind of BIOS problems) where I can check If "my" processor will work with "my" motherboard without BIOS updates?
