I have this old ASUS ROG G750JM that's had so many issues over the years but this one's specific. It's a fresh windows install and it's been booting fine which is actually rare. But now I have an issue where the laptop boots straight into BIOS sometimes despite knowing a boot drive is present. I checked my boot devices in BIOS when this happened and the SSD with windows boot manager was there. I reset the laptop and it does the same thing. It's not until I pop open the back and gently push up on the drive until it boots again. Are the SATA connectors on a laptop likely to develop connection issues? I have to work on this laptop often so it's not unfeasible that this is the result of wear and tear, but the pins look okay on both the drive and the connector. Also there's two SATA connectors on this laptop and the one closest to the center of the laptop straight up doesn't work I just can't boot a drive from it at all.

Anybody got any ideas or solutions? The laptop doesn't need to be mobile anymore it can chill I just don't want it to keep doing this crap because I want to give it to my friend who isn't as knowledgeable about computers as me and I don't want to have to rush to fix it if it fails to boot

Sounds like the spacing on ssd is a bit too big?!? If you have to push it in order to boot. Just stick something in between chasing and ssd in order to push it towards connectors maybe
