So, I'm working through my parts list for the PC I'm saving up to build. I'm looking at a Ryzen 9 3950x and am trying to decide between kits of RAM.

I know our current generation of Ryzen loves 3600mhz, and RAM at that speed isn't all that expensive. I'm just trying to figure out whether I should buy Corsair Vengeance LPX  or whether I should go for GSkill Trident Z

Only difference between the 2 are their CL rating (14 and 15 respectively). Am I going to see a difference with the timings at 14, or should I save the money going with the CL15?

You are already going to such a fast RAM. I recommend you that choose what looks better at this point as it will become overkill. Trident Z will suit any build perfectly.

So save the money, I won't see much if any difference between the two other than the look of the modules.

Thanks!

what's the price difference? the performance difference will be like 1%. so if the price difference is less than 1% of the price of the whole build and you have the money, it's worth going for the faster kit.

also, what are you planning to do with this pc? 3950x is not really a gaming cpu, it's more a workstation cpu, and a workstation with only 16gb of ram doesn't sound balanced
