Problem with External Hard Drives

Hi,

 

When I'm using External Hard Drives an I want to remove them from the USB

Plug Windows 7 warns me: "This drive is processing.....you can't remove it"

somthing like that. But I don't see any transactions going on...

 

So Is there anything in the background running which I can't see?

 

How can I solve this`?

well on my external hard drives I just plug it and when I'm done or need to carry it with me just remove it. even if it's doing something.

 

if it brokes just live with it.

 

the most horror were the maxtor hdd's that I used to have. seems like they are gone now.

I had that issue, so I would turn off my computer, unplug it, then plug it back in. Wasn't too bad, since I did it like once a week.

But there must be a better option...?! If it says there is a process, then you should

see this somewhere...
