Upgrade Recommendations

Gildroy

Hi guys. I will be looking to upgrade my rig later in the year (around August/September time, unless prices are super unstable following the current climate). I will be looking at adding a 4K monitor for the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 (recommendations also welcome, however will likely be a Predator) and wanted to upgrade some parts at the same time, however unsure where to start.

I would likely be looking at replacing the CPU cooler, although have 0 experience with them or what’s available in the market.

its worth noting that the CPU currently in the build had a weird fault when I first got it, where it would blue screen, which I was only able to fix by setting AVX offset you 5.

Not sure whether the new 109xx chips are worth the upgrade, would appreciate some information regarding it. Also I’ve tried doing some research into the different 2080ti’s but still unsure which one is best bang for buck.

Budget in the region of £1200 / $2000 not including the monitor.

Thanks in advance friends 😊 current specs below. Was prebuilt, I have limited experience building/upgrading but am capable.

this looks like a great system, I wouldn't upgrade to a 2080ti, i'd wait for nvidia 3000 series. I'd get a new cpu cooler. if you want to go for air cooling, a nh-d15 should do it. if you want water, try a 240/280/360mm cooler

Going from a 1080ti to a 2080ti is really not a huge upgrade but an expensive one so would not recommend it. Intel's 10th gen isn't looking promising at all, since their still releasing basically the same products with a higher boost clock and TDP. If you really want to upgrade your CPU wait until Ryzen 4000.

So you’d recommend a mobo and CPU upgrade instead at a later date?

I agree with both boggy77 and Mr. PC. Wait for 4th gen ryzen to release then upgrade the cpu, mobo, and new cooler. And get a 3000 series graphics card once they release.
