Hi everyone,

My current build

Things I won't change:

GTX 1660 super

Seasonic 850W PSU

Samsung 970EVO 250 M.2 drive (My current MB doesn't support it's full speed, so it run at 1/3 the performance)

1TB HDD

Non gaming related: 2x Yamaha HS7, Sennheiser HD6XX, Steinberg UR12, DarkVoice s360, Logiteh g900, random bluetooth keyboard (I need to upgrade this too, but this will happen another day)

Things I want to upgrade:

16GB DDR3 RAM

Asus Z97P MB

i5 4690K CPU

Cooler Master neptune 240 cooler

Cooler master n500 case

LG 27GL650F 144Hz G-Sync compatible

Things I want to upgrade to:

Ryzen 5 3600x

2x16GB 3200MHz ram sticks

Smaller and cooler looking case

Some RGB for the lolz.

big phat air cooler

I'm from Bulgaria and don't have an exact budged, but I'm thinking I don't want to go higher than 1400 BGN which adjusted for the higher pricing in my country is about 700 USD worth of parts.

The things I'm considering:

412BGN for the 3600x CPU

191BGN Noctua NH-D15 chromax.black

195BGN for 2x Kingston HyperX Fury RGB 16GB DDR4 PC4-25600 3200Mhz CL16 HX432C16FB3A/16 x

192BGN ASROCK-B450M-STEEL-LEGEND MB (Pretty random choice, I'm not very familiar with newer motherboards. Found the cheepest rgb mATX with 4 ram slots and b450 chipset)

I have no Idea what case to choose. Need suggestions. I want it small and personally like the boxy looking cases but other types are also in the game.

Can I have your suggestions on how to improve the build? Case suggestion, and general good lookingness tips.

Thanks!

M

EDIT:

After a bit of browsing I think I found a better build:

136 BGN NH-U12S chromax.black // this case can't support the bigger cooler

363 BGN Ryzen 5 3600 3.6GHz // found a better deal than the X

227 BGN 2x8 triden z ram 3200 // will upgrade to 32 later on, also thinking about skipping the RGB and getting cheaper ram since I don't know what else can I add with RGB apart from fans.

204.9 BGN B450M MORTAR MAX //seems to have the best feature set and VRM cooling for the price

90BGN CoolerMaster MasterBox Q300 // maybe I'll need to buy a few fans for it, what do you think? Also I can't see where you mount the 3.5'' HDD?

That's 1021BGN which is pretty nice price IMO.

Thanks!

M

I would get the r5 3600 instead of the 3600x, unless you want to overclock. The Noctua D15 is good. Ram looks good, just compare the price to other 3600mhz or 3200mhz CL16 kits, I’m not familiar with the prices.

That is a horrible way to select a motherboard, go with the the MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX. It’s 3rd gen ryzen compatible and has some rgb.

1. "r5 3600 instead of the 3600x, unless you want to overclock" Why is that? From GN reviews I understood that it's actually the other way around. If I want to overclock the 3600 is a better deal. (The price difference is really small. Like 10 USD, that's why I picked it).

2. This RAM is reasonably priced compared to others.
3. I like how you gave me another option for a motherboard and pointed out the only things which I know about the first one, after saying that's a horrible way to pick a MB... Also it's ATX and I'm looking for mATX.

For the MB, MSI B450M MORTAR MAX seems like a good choice but no RGB header. It has the added benefit of a type C header. But it doesn't say it supports fast ram (max 2677).
