Gate opener

I want to make something to let my parents open and close their gate when they drive through.

It's a hinged swinging gate on a cattle property. The driveway is dirt, rocks and grass.

There is no power supply currently. I don't particularly want to use petrol.

I'll post photos of the gate next time i am there.

 

Has anyone seen a similar project or have any advice on where i should research this?
