Hey guys, lurker here looking for some input into buying a monitor. Around a year and a half ago, I purchased a Yamakasi 2703. In spite of some initial concerns about the entire A-/B grade panel thing, I've really come away very happy with it. The only issue is with the lack of inputs. Although I'm mainly a PC gamer, I still dabble with consoles for the exclusives. I'm also working at home a bit these days, so something that I could plug a cable box into(via HDMI, again) to watch TV/movies while I attempt to get things done throughout the day.

Here's a rundown of what I'm looking for;

-Low input lag. I'm not really interested in a high refresh rate, but I'm used to gaming on a single-input Korean display and would like to get something close in terms of input lag.

-Glossy. Glare isn't really a problem with my current setup(I'm also rarely doing thing where glare would bother me during daylight hours), and I've always preferred the deeper black glossy type coatings produce.

-Large. There are situations where I'll be using from my couch(mostly for watching things as opposed to gaming), which isn't all that far away...but 27 inches would be preferable.

Thus far, I've looked into the Acer H276HL, the Dell S2740L, and the Crossover 2755AMG.

If it wasn't for the input lag issue, I would have already pulled the trigger on the 2755AMG or a similar multi-input Korean monitor. I'm really not anything resembling a competitive gamer, but I do play multiplayer games for fun. As I'm sure we're all aware, it's far more fun to do well in such games :P. Most metrics I've been able to track down suggest that the input lag is really only equivalent to about a frame and that certainly seems like something I could learn to live with, but I'm having a had time talking myself out of seeing it as an issue.

The Dell seems to have a pretty solid reputation with regards to input lag, but I've heard that the aggressive overdrive gives it some ghosting problems. I'm less fussed about that, but it is a bit of a mark against it.

Can't seem to find a ton of information on the H276HL, but I've got a good friend who owns the 23 inch version of the same monitor. Hasn't had any complaints thus far. Really gorgeous looking panel too.

So yeah...any input would be very much appreciated. I'm having a real hard time making up my mind. I'm not really committed to anything at this point. My budget is fairly flexible, but I would like to spend around $300.

Thanks for reading!

I know this isnt what you are looking for in terms of a glossy finish, but it has a relatively borderless display, 5ms response, 60hz 1080p IPS panel thats 27" in size. and no its not available in black sadly :(http://www.asus.com/Monitors_Projectors/MX279H/

Edit: you can find it at around $350 AUD i dont know about other currencies. Also you may notice it has 2 HDMI ports and a DVI port, but Im quite sure they include a hdmi to DVI adapter in the box.

I really wouldn't recommend a 27" 1080p monitor to anyone. At that screen size the pixels are really quite noticeable.

1440p monitors that are gaming effective are just hard to find especially in that price range, but i totally get what youre saying.

Yeah, that one is basically perfect with the exception of the finish(both the coating and the color). If I soften my stance on the finish as time goes on, that may be the one I go with.

I would really prefer to avoid that as well, but I really can't extend my budget any further than $400ish dollars(and I would have to get fiance approval for that one haha). The Korean multi-input solutions fall well within this price-point, but the scaler implementation introduces at least a frame(and sometimes more) of input lag. I haven't looked a ton into how more reputable brands fare at 1440p, but I would have to wait and save a bit and wait anyway. I'm looking for something fairly immediate.

I'm sort of considering going with one anyway(2720 MDP Gold supposedly only has just under 1 frame and I'm probably making too much out of this whole thing anyway), but the lack of a decent return policy certainly doesn't put me in a chance taking mood.

Thanks a ton for taking the time to reply guys. Really appreciate it.
