This is my first mid-range PC build and I would love some insight!

i have a 3600, which i would suggest you get if you can afford it. if you plan to overclock i would get a higher wattage psu possibly, but besides that it looks pretty good. and welcome to the forums :)

Is RGB and aesthetic very important to you?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

@piratemonkey

When adding the 3600 in the PCpartpicker, it gave a warning saying that "Some AMD B450 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Matisse CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions." I didn't exactly know what it meant but I still didn't wanna take the chance.

Anyways, thank you for your help! I feel very welcome here!

its saying that because x-4xx motherboards dont nativly support 3rd gen cpus. i believe that you should be fine now, as manufacturers have had time to have native bios s that support them. if you have a memory express or micro center near you they can update the bios, if not amd can lend a 2nd gen cpu and you can update it yourself

if you are, a 650w or 750w would be good, depending on what youll be overclocking. i have a 750w and im quite comfortable with a cpu ram and gpu oc. if its just cpu or ram 650w, even 550w should be fine, if not a little tight in power limits

the 3600 sounds great but unfortunately it gets me just over my one thousand dollar budget :(

if you can spare the money, it will be a lot better than the 2600. you probably would save that money in electricity costs choosing the 3600. its a really solid cpu, but if you must than a 2600 would do you just fine

no, 500W are enough. many people have the 9900k with 2080ti both overclocked with a 550W psu. your system won't use more that 350w overclocked under load
