I just built my first computer and now I want to make sure everything is working as expected.

What is the best way to make sure the GPU is operating like it should?   I have seen lots of benchmarking tests but I am not sure which one would be best to use for a simple validation that the card is operating like it should.

Thoughts/Advice?

For the gpu I use unigine valley, heaven and superposition which are free.  Superposition is really demanding at 1080p extreme.

I also use 3d mark firestrike and timespy which I got on steam when there was a sale.

For the cpu I use cinebench r20 that you can find for free on the windows store.

I9 10850K

EVGA RTX 3080 TI FTW3 ULTRA

32 Gb Crucial Balistix ddr4 3600mHz 16-18-18-38

MSI Z490 Tomahawk

Fractal Design Ion+ 860W platinum

Arctic Liquid Freezer II, 360mm

WB Black SN750 NVMe ssd

TeamGroup L5 3D Lite 1 Tb sata SSD

Thanks, I found and used the 3d mark "demo" and did a test run with TimeSpy - got around 10K on GPU which seems to be about where a 2070 super should be without any overclocking.  Right?

no idea about the 2070 scores, you could look online for those.  In the paid version you can compare your score online and see how you did but i'm not sure if you can with the demo version.

I got 4856 in time spy with my rx590 and my i7 4770 all at stock speed with xmp profile on.

You can compare with the demo version as well.  The score was high.  I also checked the threads here for the 3D benchmark and it looked to be inline with other tests of the 2070 Super.     Thanks for your reply.
