Hi, i have some misconceptions about cpu and a specialized new-ish cad/cam aplication that, i use in my work.

1.-I cant get a new version of the program, it was programed in the 90s, and seller tell me that new version are still single core-ipc performance based kernels.

2.-i have a core 2 duo and i compared this cpu versus a ivy bridge (dont remember number) but newer. I dond see better result overall of ivy bridge over core 2 duo.

3.- i compared some bechs single core of ryzens , athlon 3000g, ryzen 3, and even ryzen 5 are not much different in single core performance, dont know about intel.

does any body have any advice , my app is sse2 based and opengl 2.1 in the graphics side, i will answer more specs of the app to get a better advice if i could, thanks.

I would recommend either current gen AMD or Intel CPUs, if it's compatible. As it's older it may not be. 3rd Gen ryzen versus 9/10th Intel, there isn't a ton of difference I believe. If it's older hardware, I don't know a ton about it

Either @piratemonkey or quote me when responding to me

What application is it? It's hard to give advice when we can't verify if the program can take advantage of multiple cores, or if it is compatible with newer hardware.

What are you using to test the difference? Each generation has an improvement over the last, so I'm not sure how you came to the conclusion that a core 2 duo and an ivy bridge cpu will have the same performance.
