hi,

i am looking to upgrade the ram on my prebuild msi pc. i currently have 2x4 kingston msi24d4s7s8mb-8 (2400hz). i want to put in another 8gb, since a couple of new games i got in the past time feel really laggy. though im questioning, can i put in a different brand/model of ram (with same speed) or do i have to get the same model, id rather not though, since the model my pc currently has is available very limited.

You can usually mix and match, sometimes motherboards are picky.

Though- I doubt that it's your ram slowing you down in games. What specs does your system have?

especially in gta5 and forza horizon 4, ram hits 100% and seems to cause stutters. not fully sure if its ram though i believe 12 or 16gb will make it run better

Really? Hm. It should help then- was sure gta didn't use more than 5-6. Consider just getting a full kit anyways though. You can get faster memory for when you eventually upgrade your cpu.

I'd still put a fair bit of blame on your gpu and cpu. They're getting outdated.

the fps on the 1050 ti doesnt get me down, only thing is i run red dead with 40fps on 720p. but i can deal with that. rather that then spending a bunch of money on an entirely new pc. im pretty sure the only better gpu id be able to upgrade to is the 1060. since i have a 350w atx flex psu. not sure if i can replace these with a different kind of psu.
