First NAS build question

bughtoo

I have some old HW lying around and i was wondering if it would be enough to work as a NAS/Plex server?

AMD A10-7890K

Zalman ZM350-FX

MSI A88XI AC V2

16gb ddr3 1666mhz ram

To which i was wondering to add a SATA card, so i can add more drives.

Thoughts?

The hardware is pretty decent. You can run a NAS operating system of choice off a USB drive/stick which gives you an option of using 4 hard drives since MSI A88XI has 4 x SATA ports. There are also some RAID options present on the motherboard so for the Plex server you can combine 4 drives into a RAID5. This should be enough. Why do you need an additional SATA card?

Yes that'll get it done. Don't know about PLEX though.

You can add a HBA for more drives. I would recommend the LSI 9207-8i.
