So I am looking at building the following system.

OS: Arch Linux

Motherboard: X570 Phantom Gaming-ITX/TB3

Processor: Ryzen 3900x

Memory: Corsair Vengence 3200 2x16 CL16 (Already have)

Storage: Sabrent 2TB Rocket NVMe 4.0

Storage: Sabrent 2TB Rocket NVMe 3.0

GPU: RX 5700 Xt Mech OC (Already Have) until I guess big Navi comes out

Case, Power Supply, Cooler: NZXT H1 whenever it goes in stock, end of march I think

It will mostly be used for 3D Modeling, Web Development, General Programming, Streaming, Gaming.

My biggest concern is cooling.

What are your thoughts on putting a build like this together?

Nothing sticks out except the Gen 4 NVMe. Seems like a waste of money over Gen 3, but no real complaints otherwise.

I figured I would go straight to Gen4 since the board supports it. However dropping down to Gen3 would save me around $150.

I wasn't sure if Gen4 would be a major improvement over Gen3 or not, I have heard that it runs hotter however and that is a concern I have had.

It will be sitting on the back of the motherboard next to the GPU. The only fan in the case is the one attached to the included aio.

For most people's use cases, it has no appreciable advantages over Gen 3. I say this having 6 of them. They are advantageous to me because I need to move large sets of data quickly and my workloads support this. I have tested them in other kinds of uses and hardly ever see a performance benefit even over SATA SSDs.

They do run hotter than Gen 3 drives, but I don't think it would be enough to effect your build. Price though... yeah, save that $150.
