Xeon's are primarily used for servers and work stations. They aren't really to be considered for gaming. You might get more bang for your buck with the i5 processors instead.

They'll be pretty much the same MHz for MHz, but they are usually locked and clocked lower.

Be more specific as to which xeon and which i7? There are a variety of each.

Typically the xeon range has a lower clock speed and therefore runs single threaded games badly (particularly older games)
