So I recently updated my motherboard BIOS (ASRock AB350M-HDV) to its latest version (5.90 on manufacturers website) and the GPUs fan is always running at full speed (over 3000+ RPM based on readings from GPU-Z) when turning on and even while on idle. When I'm gaming, it gets even worse because the GPU gets hot quickly.

P.S. my GPU is a Sapphire Nitro RX 480 4GB (non + model)

Any help is greatly appreciated ? please the noise is unbearable. Thank you!!!!

Have you tried some software like MSI afterburner or EVGA precision xoc?

But my motherboard sadly doesn't have a BIOS flashback ?

You don't need BIOS flashback, you can just flash any BIOS from the manufacturer's website. The motherboard doesn't necessarily know which is new and which is old.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

There's no BIOS version 5.90  for ASRock AB350M-HDV https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/AB350M-HDV R4.0/index.asp#BIOS

You don't need to, just install a previous version

I kinda doubt a BIOS update will do that. Look in task manager and see if there's any GPU workload, you might of somehow got crypto malware (maybe).

Reinstall the GPU drives

I've tried reinstalling the drivers, still no change.

Really? But the website warns me about going back to a previous version of the BIOS. Alright, I'll try tonight after work when I get home. I'm the Ph and work an 8am-5pm job ? thanks!

The fan controller on the graphics card isn't influenced by the m0therboard bios.

Did you use DDU? https://community.amd.com/message/2651273?q=clean install

Anything in task manager?

Yes I used DDU to clean and reinstall. Also checked Task manager, there aren't any programs running in the background. I guess a BIOS flashback or a new motherboard are the only viable solutions ?

I know, but no matter what I do with the AMD software, the fan speed doesn't change at all ?

Maybe the controller is dead?

If the fan is at full speed and it still overheats, you need to replace the thermal paste and clean the card.

How can that happen? I mean like, what could I have done to the GPU that would kill the controller?

You? Nothing. Electronics die.

You could try cleaning the card. If the controller isn't dead, it might work.
