Workstation best display settings?

My main computer setup has 2 monitors, a 27" 1080p one and a 19" vertically mounted monitor. I'm wondering if I could get a better workflow with a single bigger monitor rather than two, but I'm also wondering what would be it's specs then.

My face is usually slightly less than 3 feet away from the screen, so 40" would obviously be too much

What are you doing at work and what kind of system do you have? I use 2x3440x1440 displays at work doing mostly development. I've got 3x2560x1440s at home for browsing, some development, and watching videos, and I've got an ultra-wide 5120x1440 monitor for gaming.

Those 34" 2440x1440 displays are pretty sweet for office work, but there's something to be said for using multiple smaller monitors to segment out your windows since I've yet to see an operating system handle really wide displays nicely when it comes to auto-sizing windows.

The auto size is my primary concern too... But I've decided to get a 21:9 34" anyway, I just have to find one that is within my budget and with good reviews. Nowadays I primarily use the computer to watch old movies while I use other software to do stuff, but I agree it looks gorgeous when using a music daw or a video editor and you don't have plastic and air separators between monitors!
