Hello everyone!

I don't know if this is the correct sub-forum for this question, but here I go. I have been experiencing rather high temperatures in some games, where I shouldn't have any issues according to colleagues, friends and even some YouTubers. Here are my specifications below:

Case: Zalman Z7 Neo

GPU: MSI GTX 970

CPU: Intel i5-4690K

RAM: 8GB DDR3 2333MHz Kingston

SSD: Samsung Evo 128GB, Kingston A400 240GB

MOBO: MSI Z97 Gaming 3

Fans:

    Front: 120mm x3 intake

Rear: 120mm x1 exhaust (I plan on moving one of the three 120mm from the front to put as an exhaust at the top rear, is this smart?)

    Stock Intel CPU-fan/cooler.

If I am playing e.g. Counter Strike: Global Offensive, I play at lowest possible settings (I always have no matter the PC), and CPU operates at about 55-60C, GPU at 58-63C. This isn't bad at all, I figure. But is it high, low?

However, if I play a game such as Battlefield 4, which this setup should run absolutely fine (high/ultra, I get around a stable 160FPS without vertical sync), I go up to about 75-80C on the GPU and around 65-70C on the CPU. If I use vertical sync and lock the FPS to 60, I'll be around 65 tops on both CPU and GPU. I have been shown and told that I should be able to play Battlefield 1 and V at high settings (not ultra) and get around 70-80 FPS without too high temperatures... I tried Battlefield 1 at low/mid and got 40 FPS, temps at 80.

Let's not even discuss Apex Legends... all low settings and I can still go up to 80 degrees at times, GPU wise.

The case itself is clean as a whistle, and I dusted all the parts before mounting them/building the PC together in the case (it's a new case, the old one was horrid, which spared me a few degrees celsius actually, so that's good, new case for the win).

What can I do? What should I do?

I do not have the budget to split parts or upgrade at the moment, or buy a new PC.

Thanks for the comment, Sjaakie.

I have been thinking about getting further cooling parts to get my PC down even further, only because I think it'll help with longevity and spare me the "anxiety".

The two mentioned above are my current finds, bang-for-the-buck, I would say.

Do you agree? Will they fit with my current specifications?

This temps are not too bad tbh, gpu is quite hot but not to the point you have to worry about. You can always try increase fan curve for more aggressive in msi afterburner, also you can try replacing thermal paste (970 is quite old gpu now, if you never changed thermal paste it may be the reason for higher temps). Cpu is not bad as well, same as gpu try replacing thermal paste for new one, it may improve temps.

Yes this may help as well, 2fans in the front should be enough (depends what case you have , it may have very restrictive airflow) and just drop that 3rd fan to the back/top of the case, it’ll push hot air from the case quicker.

@Whiro tag or quote will do the trick

I wouldn't spend that much on extra cooling tbh. It won't do much for longevity and the hardware is getting pretty old anyway. Better spend that on a nice Ryzen upgrade!
