So... I'm stuck in a pickle. I've been wanting to upgrade my CPU for a while now. Currently, I have an AMD Phenom II x4 955BE. I only had gaming in mind so this CPU was more than good enough. Now, I've been doing a lot of video editing, sound producing, a lot of photoshop for art, and just basically doing things that tax the CPU intensively. That being said, I've decided to upgrade to an intel platform. Specifically, I've had my eye on the 3930k. The reason I haven't gotten it yet is that Ivy bridge came out and there are a few benchmarks that put the 3930K and Ivy's 3770K neck and neck. What I find attractive about SB-E's architecture, more or less the X79's, is the quad channel memory. When I found out Intel was going to release it's Ivy-E line, I thought I would wait. Now... Haswell is up and coming, so everything is just thrown out of the loop. I need help, maybe some "professional" help...

This is where I need you guys. I can wait until next year February because I'm patient like that, so here are the options...

Get the 3930K relatively soon

Wait for an Ivy-E 4930K

Wait for Haswell's 4770K

obviously, I'll get all the necessary hardware that comes with getting the chosen CPU.

any personal and original thoughts for the 4770k?

The motherboards and cpu will be a lot cheaper than the x79 alternative. This is definatly the better price per performance ratio. But if money is not an issue the ivy-e will perform better in tasks that can make use of all 6 cores (12 virtual cores with hyperthreading)

Maybe we will even see 8 cores with ivy-e. It has been rumored but there is no way to know for sure unless intel releases an official statement
