I am baffled. Maybe one of you can help me.

My pc consists of:

Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 rev4.0

AMD FX-8320 (noctua cooler)

Corsair vengeance pro 8gb (2x4 gb)

EVGA GTX650 ti boost 2gb

Samsung 860 evo 500 gb

1TB WD black

Corsair CX600M psu

Samsung LED S24C300

Sony 65 inch LED tv

Wired Logitech keyboard and mouse

About 12 hours ago my pc was working without any issues as it did for the past 7 years. I had some errands so I turned it off as I did hundreds of times before and upon my return I power it on and every fan (cpu, gpu and case fans are working) but no image on displays. Keyboard lights are not working as well as no light under the mouse.

I've tried literally almost everything suggested for my issue and had no luck. Even cleaned the case with an air compressor to remove the dust.

I've upgraded to Windows 10 two weeks ago. Have to admit windows 7 was working faster for me.

If anyone has any clue what else to try I'm open to suggestions.

The only thing I haven't tried is hooking up a speaker to see if any beeps give an indication what the issue might be.

Definitely hook up a speaker. Beep error codes are very useful. That said, I'd be be suspicious that your PSU is the problem.

Btw, I tried with a different PSU (Seasonic fully modular) and the issue was the same as it was with my own. Maybe I should find a non modular PSU and give it a go.

I'd breadboard it. Remove all components (including USB devices, drives, etc) except the CPU, one RAM stick, and your GPU. Reseat the one RAM stick and the GPU. Reseat your power connectors. Double check all of your fan connections. Try powering it up like that. Basically, you want to isolate the problem by using as few components as possible. Hopefully you can get it to boot.  If not:

Swap the RAM stick for a different one.

try to boot.

Swap the GPU for a different one.

try to boot.

Swap the PSU for a different one. (check this off the list :) )

try to boot.

Look everywhere for a short circuit (screw behind the motherboard, dangling power cable contacting metal, etc).

Eventually you have to start questioning you CPU and Motherboard, which really sucks because they are the hardest components to test. Hopefully you can get the system to PST before you get to this point.

  • 1 month later...

Update:

Bought the exact same motherboard, used same components I had before and the *bleep* PC does the exact same thing as it did with the old board.

No lights on lan connection, no lights on keyboard and same searching for input on monitor.

I am absolutely baffled. I think it's time to throw everything in the garbage and start with a new build.

Wish I had some genious PC guy like Mr. Rossmann that could test this thing for me.
