I currently have a 128gb Samsung 830 SSD with Windows on it and also 2 blank (haven't even formatted them yet) 250GB Samsung 840 EVO's. I want to clone the 128GB SSD over to a Raid 0 array of the 2 250GB drives (then remove the 128GB from the system altogether). What is the easiest way to do this? (This is my first time setting up a Raid array)

Thanks in advance.

Recommend reinstalling on the new drives.

Since from your other topic, http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/114993-reboot-and-select-proper-boot-device. you had to have the 1tb drive attached to boot. if you were able to clone to a raid array, which i have not seen done before, you would still have the issues of not being able to boot, and another step would be required, moving over the partition from your 1TB drive as well.

Before you being, download the raid driver from your motherboard's website, as this is required during installation. if you do not see drives within the installation this is the main reason when using raid.

Would you recommend reinstalling EVERYTHING, or would I be able to back up my programs and reinstall them to the new RAID drives? and if so, would you happen to know the easiest way to backup and reinstall my programs? Thanks.

Reinstall everything, you can transfer the data, would reduce the amount of possible issues down the line.

Sorry I do not know of any way to transfer applications. However I am sure there are others on the forum that might know the answer to your question.

Hey there ohitsluca,

I would also suggest doing a fresh install of the OS onto the RAID array as you would avoid all potential problems with data corruption, loss or misalignment during the process. Cloning may seem the more convenient procedure, but the safer and involving less problems way would be a fresh install of the OS with the proper drivers and updates and reinstalling all your applications and games. :)
Some tools do support cloning to a RAID array. You may have to tweak the Os and the BIOS settings a bit. Not all OSs give you the freedom to switch from AHCI to RAID without losing data and the need to reinstall everything.
