Do i need to flash a bios for this?

I have an Amd a4-6300 and i just bought an athlon x4 860k. I have a none brand chinese A88 motherboard and the bios is American Megatrends Inc. and the bios version is 4.6.5.

Would i need a different bios to support the athlon?

The BIOS names and numbers are motherboard vendor specific, so the name of 4.6.5 doesn't tell us anything about compatibility unfortunately. You have to go to the manufacturer's site to find out.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

 

How many watts do I need? ATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explained, group reg is bad

Well how would i go to the manufacturer's site if the motherboard has no brand

Ok if I remember correctly this is the type of the board the chines manufacturer salvage the chipset and stick it to new boards, in that case it should work because the cpu is quite old and the aliexpress don’t say which exactly cpus are supported. But since you ordered the cpu anyway best way to test it is just to put it in
