Hi! My brother in law has a laptop named HP Leaf, Cheap surfing laptop. Recently Windows 10 released their new big update and im having some issues.

The leaf comes with a 30gb HDD and with Win10 installed there is not much space left. Right now im having issues where windows update tries to download the new update but it cant due to not having enough space.

I have been searching google for some solutions like using a USB / External HDD. But whenever i get the option to use a external HDD to "download" updates it doesn't work.

I have disabled windows update but the updates that it already has downloaded is still there and i have litterly 200mb left until it just halts.

I want to re install the laptop that has the newest update but i am afraid i wont get the windows activated, it is not signed in with a MS account.

The info i found on google was to download the media creation tool and select USB device but this option never shows. All i get is the "you need atleast 8gb free space" ... ..

I know my way around windows etc but right now im at a stop, scratching my head trying to find a solution.

Is there any one here that have had similar issues or just knows what i should be doing?

Br

Maths

Use the Media Creation Tool to download Windows 10 and select the flash drive option. Take note of the version of Windows 10 that you currently have (Home Single Language, Pro, etc...).

When you boot into the installer, click "I don't have a product key" if it asks for one and select the correct version of Windows to install from the list (the one you took note of before). Then use the Custom option and make sure to delete all partitions on the main built-in drive of the computer (not the flash drive you booted from). Then continue to install Windows by selecting the Unallocated Space and clicking Next.

PC:

AMD Ryzen 9 5900X | AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE | 32 GB RAM | Arch Linux

Laptop:

MacBook Pro 13" (2019) | Intel Core i5 8279U | 8 GB RAM | macOS

Server:

Intel Core i7 6700K | 16 GB RAM | 2 TB HDD | Debian Linux

That is because it needs to download the installation files to the computer first. You need to use another Windows 7 or higher computer to make the USB then with the tool.
