thats almost the price of the headphones

you don't really need an amp for these anyway, afaik.

ok I knew I shouldn't of trusted someone who owns macs

if you think they're not loud enough for your taste, for example with a phones, then you can buy a mobile amp for like 50$-

but you probably wouldn't need one.

I'm not the kind of person that feels the need to blast headphones....I have 5 speakers for that

amps, as the name implies are for amplifying the sound (ie to make it lounder). What you might want however is a DAC.

The M50s don't require an amp really unless you feel like at max volume it's still not loud enough.

yeah I like to listen fairly loud on my DT 990's.

I currently use and old amp from my mom, but plan on buying a Fiio E10.

I was looking at those headphones ironically but went against them due to the aweful looks IMO (I'm a 14 year old kid wearing those to school won't make me look to cool) plus the ath-m50s seem to have better eBay deals on them

what does a dac do (sorry audio isn't my thing)

it converts a digital signal to an analog signal (a signal that your headphones/speakers etc... can use)

Buy better headphones.

Frankly something better such as DT880s cost nearly double the M50s.

I don't use them outside often, but I wouldn't care how I look anyway.

The dt990 are open headphones. You wouldn't use those outside anyway. The DT770 however are closed. As for the M50s, don't buy them and wait a month for the m50x instead. It's quite a big difference to have a removable cable, and a better headbrand and earpads.

o hi mayflower I've seen some videos on your stuff. Frankly I'm not an audiophile and don't need great headphones just good headphones. I'm upgrading from corsair 1500s and payed for them buying selling beats solo hd's (sorry to say I've owned those) but the ath-m50s were the ones that met the bill

1.fit into my 90 dollar budget (used)

2.looked good

3.had good reviews

4.seem to have nice build quality

how much will the m50x's be because I'm lucking out that the m50s have a lot of people selling them on eBay allowing them to be in my 90 dollar price range with new headphones that probally won't be the case

they will cost around 150$ new when they are released in a month. Just for the M50 then, for 90$ it's worth it.

Smart. Hearing your surroundings is pretty important when walking around town.

No, this is Patrick!

Hearing your surroundings while walking is no joking matter, however: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/nationnow/2012/01/study-number-of-distracted-pedestrians-killed-triples-since-2004.html

Ah ok, well I'm walking my dogs in th woods and vita parcours, so no cars there to be dangerous
