Okay so ive a mining pc which just randomly freezes up, no bsod or anything, just freezes. ( using sgminer)

Hardware:
E8400
Asus P5Q-E
4GB of ram ( 2 GB Corsair + 2 GB Crucial ) - no this is not the problem, dont even try.
7950 ( does the mining ) + 7450 does the display output

OCZ Vertez 2
Windows 7 64 bit pro.
CX 750

Sometimes it freezes in 5 minutes, other in 30, other in 3 hours blabla, once it did do 40hours with no freezing but then i had to restart.

Any help? Ill probably re install windows on a seperate HDD to see if it was a bad install but if you can save me the time, that'd be great

You can try giving sgminer a lower cpu priority.

CPU though isnt mining/ doing anything, it hovers around 1% utilization

I have had this problem and it turn out to be a HDD problem, try downloading SeaTools and testing your hard drive.

It could also be the graphics card that it doing the output. also it is a good idea to try memtest86 just to make sure it isn't memory. Try taking the 7450 out and running the display off of the 7950, if that makes it not hang then you will know your problem, it could also be the video driver. you could try going back to an older version of catalyst.

Does your mouse freeze? Is it plugged into a PS2 port? (USB uses polling while PS2 uses intrerupts)

its over USB, the whole computer stops working and need to press the power button for 5 sec and then turn it back on

Was it hanging when you were in 13.9? Or is it just since 13.12?

Can you do the display output with any other card? (not the 7450)

As hiyayhi said ... try to display off of the 7950 and take the other one out. (maybe catalyst has some problems with 2 amd cards at the same time)

And plug your mouse into the PS2 port.

well ive one display out with the 7450 and another one with the 7950.

Next time it freezes ill take out the 7450 and see what happens, maybe lower the intensity so the pc is usable and stuff
