Grey static screen on wake up

Hi all,

 

When i leave my PC for a 10 mins my monitor cuts out as normal... but when i wiggle the mouse or tap the keyboard the desktop doesn't appear... instead i get a grey/white static. The only way to get the desktop back is to go in to the monitor menu and change the freesync mode... this gets the desktop back.

 

Running a 34 inch samsung 1440 monitor and an rx 590 via HDMI... R5 3600 with 16GB DDR4 3600 ram.

 

Frustrated!

R5 3600, MSI B450 PRO MAX, 16gb Corsair vengance Pro ddr4, XFX RX 590 GPU, Cooler master hyper 212 cpu cooler.
