Im planning to get a corsair k70 keyboard. Honestly i prefer the blue switches because i tried them out before and it felt great. I have never tried red switches before. Unfortunately the k70 does not have a red backlit version of the blue switches. As my rig is themed red, i was thinking of taking a shot in the dark and getting the k70 with the red switches. I would want to ask gamers who use cherry mx red switches out there, how does red switches feel for gaming and typing. I play mostly mobas (dota 2) and mmos. Rarely fps games. How would red switches perform in these type of games? I also heard typing on red switches are terrible, is that true?

Any mech switch is better than membrane for gaming and typing. That is all I can say. The switch is a personal choice.

True dat, it's like kinda recommended that you just go out and try to test all the switches out yourself in person, so that you can personally get a feel of how each switch types.

That works or you can get a switch sampler like this. http://www.maxkeyboard.com/max-keyboard-keycap-cherry-mx-switch-o-ring-sampler-kit.html

well, I have a red switch now and I actually prefer this over the blues (i previously owned a blackwidow).

For performance I wouldn't say there is any difference unless you really wanted to hear the clicky sound of the blues.

For typing, if you have previously owned a blue it take a few days to get use to the red switches. ultimately it is up to personal preference!

I also have noticed that there is a weird difference depending on keyboard manufacturer. I've noticed I like the Corsair MX Red switches but when I tried them on a Ducky they didn't feel the same.

I have a quickfire in red switches and I have to say red isn't my type. It is just too soft, I am having too many typing errors on this and i can't sense the point when it is triggered, which isn't a good thing when I'm gaming. But on the other hand, if you are gaming on a long period of time, this can be very pleasing as you won't have tired fingers.

Dont get switches you dont want just cause of backlight color, just get the blues.

I have the keyboard you're getting the red LED Corsair K70 with red switches.
It works great. I don't really think that it affects my typing, but it hard to say as I taught myself to type reasonably fast and I have a few bad habits. so I am not the best judge.

Every keyboard has a learning curve, once you get used to it you should be fine.

I have the k70, its a great keyboard. I would go with blue switcher when I got mine there was only reds. I like them to.

The k70 switches feels great, if you dont mind getting a switch that isnt your favorite type go for it, as i did. And yes the k70 have a increase in the swag with red backlit.

I just hooked up the red k70s today and they are like silk. They arent as touchy and annoying as others claim they are. Unless i guess youre used to tactile keyboards. I came from a laptop and tend to bottom out when typing. No problems yet. Tried the blues the other day and wasnt impressed with the feel. Not as tactile as i thought theyd be.

Been using membrane my whole life. This would be my 1st mech keyboard. Im used to pressing down on my keys hardly as my razer lycosa that i am using now has extremely hard to press keys and its mushy and gross. If i have to compare i would say my 5$ keyboard types better then my lycosa. Not sure if i got a defective one or all lycosa keyboards are like this. Just hope the soft red switches are easy to get used too.

MX Red doesn't have a tactile actuation point at all, chances are if you tried blues and liked them, you will be disappointed by reds.

My personal key of choice is MX Brown, feels both smooth and tactile at the same time without the obnoxious clicky noise.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

I think you'll want to go with the browns. The blues are kinda clicky and the browns aren't that much and it's a great balance between Reds and Blues but it's just my two cents :D
