Hi guys !

I would like to see if my rig could be more efficient, in case of bottlenecks.

First of all, I got a i9900K, 32 Ram 3200, and I recieved a Quadro 4000 because I planned on using that computer for CAD, basic machine learning, computations... But I'd like to be able to do gaming as well and apparently that first GPU is not optimised for that. I thought about buying a 1660 Super, as I did not want to spend really much money on the second GPU. Do you think it is fair or should I invest more money to avoid a tough bottleneck ? Advices?

Thank you very  much in advance  !

it depends strongly on the software you're using, what usages are you seeing right now?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

A quadro RTX 4000 performs way better than a 1660 super in games. I'd say keep your current gpu since the quadro RTX 4000 performs similarly to a 1070 Ti which is a more than a decent card. If you really want the best performance you could just go to a 2080 Ti, I don't recommend it because of the price, but their wouldn't be any bottlenecks.

Thank you for the explanation and the advice ! I guess staying with the quadro is fair ?

Thanks for the answer, I plan on using Matlab, Python, C++, Pytorch, Tensorflow, for the programming part and otherwise for gaming, I'd like to play the trending games easily.

Is this professional or hobby?

It is for a PhD and gaming for hobby

I'd say look into getting an RTX card down the line, to leverage the tensor cores.

uh he already has a RTX

An additional rtx card, instead of the originally proposed 1660 super

Ok I see, great, thanks ! So keeping the quadro RTX 4000 ?

Yep, seems best for your workflow

Ohh alright I see, would u suggest a model ?

Any of the affordable models will do, Zotac and EVGA have a lot of budget 2060 and 2060 super offerings. assuming 1080p high or 1440p medium is what you're after, it does a good job.

the 2060 super wouldn't be much of a upgrade (at most a 4% increase in performance) it really wouldn't be worth the cost of buying a whole new graphics card.

Oh you think ?

So in that case, taking a better one such as 2080 or nothing is wiser ?

Well, considering that the Quadro has quite a lot of cuda cores but a bad cooler and different drivers, I suggested the upgrade down the line just in case. However if the gaming performance is actually quite good off the bat, OP may see no need to upgrade at all (barring higher performance target)
