Hi,

I am looking to create a custom gaming pc for the first time as I have wanted to for a while, but I am quite clueless as to what specs i would need. I was looking at around a £400 UK budget (if possible) to run at medium to high speed. I know this sounds ambitious but I was advised to buy a second hand computer and buy the components to put in it, the problem being I am not sure on which components to buy.

The games I would be playing:

- Minecraft

- GTA V

- Euro Truck Simulator 2

- The Sims 4

And games I would like to play but know they require quite high specs:

- Planet Coaster, Planet Zoo

- Farming Simulator 19

I know this is a varied list but would love it if you could help.

Thank You!

You can get something like this for new:

But like you said, a used pc + a new power supply/gpu would probably be wise. If you wanted to go this route, I'd look at a first gen ryzen system or a <skylake system on local classifieds

Thanks for the help. Out of curiousity, I was advised to purchase a GeForce 1070 GPU and an I5 4000 series CPU. Would this be too excessive for the type of gaming I required?

You can actually get better gaming performance with this:

That board is terrible though, so zero upgrade path. Also 2133MHz ram is slow for Ryzen. That RX 560 isn't worth £100 either seeing as you can get something like a 1050 ti for more or less the same price.

I would suggest swapping the board for the one posted earlier, and drop the SSD to balance the price difference. Then swap out the gpu to a 1050 ti or something 2nd hand. Ram should be changed to 3000 MHz as well.

This plus a second hand rx 570 or rx 580 should be about £400 and give you high details high fps is 1080p.

Another terrible board though. The ASRock one posted by Slottr is better.
