So i’ve had my computer for about 2 years and had no problems with it. Recently the bios time has skyrocketed to like 30 seconds and getting to the point on my desktop where everything is running smoothly takes about a minute or two. I wanted to fresh restart my computer because all i really have are old essays from school and games but when i tried to reset my computer it would say nothing happened undoing changes. It wont let me update windows or reset my computer. Any help would be great

if my specs help anyone so be it

gtx 960

r5 2600

16 gb one stick (dont yell at me i knew nothing about single/dual channel when i first built)

2tb on a weird ssd/hdd hybrid thing i found on amazon for 80 bucks( i think this is the culprit)

I run windows

I think it might be the sshd, your suspected culprit, its just got 8gb of ssd cache for some programs, but its still a hard drive
get a dummy drive you can risk wiping and install windows on it. a clean install should boot pretty fast on most drives. use that as a test to see if it the hard drive

CPU: Intel core i7-8086K Case: CORSAIR Crystal 570X RGB CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro Series H150i PRO RGB Storage: Samsung 980 Pro - 2TB NVMe SSD PSU: EVGA 1000 GQ, 80+ GOLD 1000W, Semi Modular GPU: MSI Radeon RX 580 GAMING X 8G RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum 64GB (4 x 16GB) DDR4 3200mhz Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX Z370-E Gaming

So now that i know its the sshd is there a way to clear the cache or do i just get a new ssd(kinda was already planning on it) and use that as a normal hd or is there a way to clear the cache

If it is the BIOS that takes a long time to get going, the SSHD, or any other connected external HDD, can cause it. Try next time to listen to the drive, does it have problems spinning up or makes any other strange sounds.

Bios isnt as bad as i thought it was right now last bios is 15 seconds in task mngr. And its relatively quite when i boot but it takes probably 2 minutes for me to be able to do anything after i hit the power button
