Should I Wait For Haswell?

I currently have a i7 3770 and a rubbish little mATX Gigabyte board. Should I upgrade my board or should I wait for the next generation and get an unlocked CPU and a good ATX board?

You already own a very good lga 1155 CPU. I'd say just get a new motherboard :)

From what iv'e read haswell is more advancing with the integrated gpu and controllers, and not much with the cpu itself.

Case: NZXT Phantom PSU: EVGA G2 650w Motherboard: Asus Z97-Pro (Wifi-AC) CPU: 4690K @4.2ghz/1.2V Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 Ram: Kingston HyperX FURY 16GB 1866mhz GPU: Gigabyte G1 GTX970 Storage: (2x) WD Caviar Blue 1TB, Crucial MX100 256GB SSD, Samsung 840 SSD Wifi: TP Link WDN4800

I think you should just buy a new z77 motherboard. Haswell is only going to improve about 10-15% in performance and you will spend more than it is worth to get the new cpu as well as the motherboard. An i7 3770k is a great processor and there are many great z77 motherboards.

PC Specs: Intel Core i5 3570k @4.0 GHz - Asus P8Z77-V - Corsair H60 - 16 GB Corsair Vengeance 1600 MHz - 2x EVGA Nvidia Geforce GTX 670 FTW - 120 GB Corsair Force Series 3 SSD - 1 TB Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM HDD - NZXT Phantom 410 Black - Cooler Master Silent Pro 850w

Only reason that I'd considered getting Haswell was for getting an overclockable CPU

Unless your doing video work or something CPU intensive, you don't really need to overclock we just do it for fun. But it's nt worth spending hard earned cash for that minor boost ^_^

Any ideas for a new 1155 ATX board? Needs at least 5 SATA and support for both SLI and Crossfire.

On the P8Z77-V LK, there are 2 SATA 3 ports and 4 SATA 2 ports and it supports Quad-GPU SLI and Quad-GPU/3-Way CrossFireX Support.

It is about 5 to 10% more, sadly :( but because our prices have GST included, the difference isn't that great if you count the money going out of your pocket. I find pccasegear and techbuy has most of the stuff you need for a computer.

Yeah, the seem decent enough. Anyhow, in terms of motherboards, go with anything from ASUS, Gigabyte or MSI. I'll be better able to help you if you give me a price range :)

It's official. Intel's fourth-generation core "Haswellprocessor will arrive on June 3.

So to answer your question I would say you should wait. But thats just my opinion.

Asus P8Z77-V LX, 135$ on the DIY store. Great motherboard :)

Gigabyte Z77X-D3H, 158$. For the extra 23$, you get more USB 3.0, more SATA, better audio (I have no personal experience with this motherboard, but I've heard it is good), mSATA support, USB quick charge. They also claim to use better materials than other manufacturers.

I have had no trouble with Asus stuff, and I'll admit I'm a little biased toward Asus, but Gigabyte is just as good, sometimes better. Depends whether you want to pay 20$ more for the mentioned.

EDIT: The colour scheme of the Gigabyte is so good! :D
