I just bought the Xbox wired controller for my PC but it keeps disconnecting my controller randomly. Not really sure what is causing the problem, any ideas? Downloading the actual drivers didnt seem to change anything if not make it disconnect even more.

Maybe there is a fault in the cable somewhere.

Yeah i actually tried all my usb ports (Front and Rear) and i still get the same issue. It might be my motherboard honestly though. Either that or Windows 8. MSFT hasn't made a driver update for windows 8 as far as i can tell, but tit shouldnt be too much of an issue.

I was thinking the same thing because i havent heard of anything like this. I did pick up the box that is specific for windows instead of the Xbox 360 one. Don't think that has anything to do with it.

If it helps, sometimes my computer doesnt even recognize the device at all. It says "Error pulling up usb controller device info". Probably a fault with the wiring?

Yeah I tried that and it did disconnect, but it doesn't reconnect when I keep wiggling it around.

I'm going to return it and grab another one tomorrow to see if it improves.

One thing that bothers me is that it when I plug it in, sometimes my desktop or laptop won't recognize it and just tell me there's an error with the controller. Its like 25/75 working/error
