New gaming rig

filippalfi

Hi lads!

Here is my new rig after selling my Xeon 1321 rig. Tried to live just with my laptop but that was a no go hahah.

So here it is:

I5 7600K @ 4.8 1.35v

Asrock Z270 Killer SLI

24GB 2400mhz ram

Adata SP550 120GB

WD Black 750GB HDD

Asus Turbo GTX 1080 with a Corsair H60 strapped on to it(doesnt exceed 50c with it) with +250 on the core,+400 on memory.CPU is cooled with a Antec Mercury 240mm,doesnt go past 75c on heavy loads like Aida64 etc, which seems a bit high for temps, let me know what u think.

Enermax Platimax 750w power supply

MS Paramount china case hahah, decent enough.

Games well, looks well :D Only regret(sort of) is the CPU. It was a lot cheaper for me than a 7700K at the moment, but it does miss those 4 extra threads sometimes even tho its clocked high :)

Looks okay, but what is cooling the VRAM and VRM on the board now after you removed the heat-sink?

Maybe, add some heat-sinks on each one and a fan to circulate some air over them?

Yeah, you are right. Im still using stock midplate with thermal pads,so im gonna try to mount a 120mm fan on that side,it should suffice.

There was one thing left to do,sort out some kind of cooling for the VRMs and VRAM. Since the midplate is used and is dissipating the heat a bit i just used some random RGB fan, made some feet out of old PCIe covers, bent them by hand and voila,it sits about an inch away from the card and hopefully does something, but im not happy how it looks, gotta figure out some other mounting for it.

And one more thing i would love to do is remove these chinese RGB fans and put some ML120s with only white lightning.

One of these heat-sink's that are marketed for Raspberry Pi's main processor or graphics chip which are stuck on with thermal transfer tape, might work, or if they are too big something similar?

  • 2 weeks later...

Not much of an update but here it goes. Had my 7600k OCed to 4.9 at 1.35v and I started experiencing higher temps than usual. It reached 80c really quickly so I decided to clean everything up. Not sure why but everything is back to normal, temps, dont exceed 75c on hottest core, updated the BIOS and now it finally hits 5 ghz at 1.35v with no issues at all. And yeahwhere, card is aircooled again, started overheating, mounting solution was not good,it stays this way until I figure something out.
