Hello all,

My current mobo and CPU are a MSI B150A Gaming Pro and a intel i5 6500. I recently wanted an upgrade and with the Black Friday sales I thought I would take the opportunity to get a good deal on a new CPU.

I have recently ordered and just tried to install a i5 9600k into my system, the system will fire up for 1 second and stop before trying again. I switched it back to my original CPU and it works fine.

Have I made a rookie mistake and not read up on my stats, or is my CPU broken?

Kind Regards,

The 9600k is incompatible with the B150 motherboard, requires a 300 series board to work.
