Pc won't boot

I just got a new case and wanted to migrate everything over and it didn't boot. I took the motherboard out with the ram cpu and gpu all connected, and put it on a cardboard box to troubleshoot. When "powered on" the motherboard will light up with its red strip it has built in but the gpu nor the cpu fan will spin up. If I use a power supply tester the gpu fans will spin up but still won't display, as for the cpu cooling fan that won't spin up at all

Also the cpu is not receiving power, I can tell because I took the heatsink off and plugged the cpu and 20 pin connector in and touched it with my finger (also tried same thing with power supply tester)

Funnily enough we just had this problem at work. Its probably your ram. Try 1 stick. If that doesnt work try the other. (assuming you have 2 sticks)

Of the cpu or the psu?

try checking ur motherboard cpu socket (if ur using intel) or ur processor pins (if ur using amd)

I'll check but I haven't removed the cpu in like 4 years

@Andrew54 Well, no! it wasnt you actually. Genuinly someone at my work had this problem. Fixed it like this.

If you have more then 2 slots, try different slots.

I did and I have 4 total sticks of ram and tried each in a slot and nothing

Damn, check your sockets and what not like others suggested. Check your PSU, does it spin? I think you may have shorted something.

I know that it spins when the psu tester is plugged into it(gpu fans also spin when tester is plugged in) and when the 20 pin is in the mobo the integrated red light will illuminate

Is it safe to say it's a motherboard issue?

Last attempt is trying onboard graphics if it has that. If not, it does sound like a motherboard problem.

I tried that already, the cpu doesn't even heat up at all

Also when the fan for the heatsink was on it wasn't spinning either

Any idea why the integrated red lights on the motherboard would still light up?

There's a bunch of cables and resistors/transistors in a motherboard. Just because 1 thing works doesnt mean everything would work :')

Exactly! Just out of curiosity, Which motherboard is it? Hope it wasnt too expensive? Maybe you still have warrancy for it.

It's a rog strix b250h gaming motherboard and I got it like 4-5 years ago for $110 usd
