I have an old early 2011 MBP which I really like creating mobile iOS apps on using Xcode. Sadly, I can’t update to Mac OS Catalina because my MBP is too old and it won’t support it preventing me from getting the newest Xcode update. I am therefore looking to upgrade but don’t necessarily want to spend 5k$ on the new MBP. I would need suggestions for a low end budget computer that can run Mac OS Catalina (can be in a VM) and is strong enough to reliably code on.

Looking forward to all of your suggestions.

The 2017 MacBook Air is going to be extremely on sale this Black Friday. I would try to stick with a Mac because getting MacOS to work on other devices is doable but can be a major pain sometimes. If you want something that you can trust will always just work its worth the cost, not to mention you don't have to spend a bunch of time trying to fix it anytime an update breaks your hackintosh or VM you have
