General Description:

My newly built (not first time) PC based on a ryzen 5 2600 is not doing anything when the powerbutton is pressed, the power sw on the mobo is shortened.

My Specs:

Original Components:

  • Ryzen 5 2600
  • B450m Pro4
  • Palit GTX980ti Super Jetstream
  • 1x 16GB HyperX Black Fury DDR4 266MHz (planning to buy a 2nd one this month, yes I know dual-channel bla)
  • Corsair VS550 (from an old build, the old orange/black theme)
  • Corsair MP510
  • Deepcool Matrexx 55
  • Deepcool Gammax L240

Replaced Components:

  • AsRock X570 Phantom Gaming K4
  • Thermaltake Smart RGB 600W

Detailed Description:

My PC wouldn't turn on, I've tried shorting the Power Pin's on the Motherboard, nothing happened. After some experimenting, I got to the conclusion that my Power Supply, although passing the Paper Clip Test, was faulty, which is why I went out today and bought a new one (Replaced Component: Thermaltake Smart RGB 600W). Having switched out the Power Supply I tried again, first the power button, then the shorting. No result. What was weird though, as soon as I switched the Powersupply to ON, my Front Fans (Connected to the Addressable RGB Header on my B450m Pro4) started blinking green, that is why I thought I was on the right track. After some more experimenting, I concluded that the new PSU has to be working, which is why I was getting suspicious of the Mainboard. Luckily a friend of mine is still waiting for his Parts to arrive, as he is building an AM4 Pc soon as well, so I lent his Mainboard for testing. After putting the new Board in, the same thing was happening, Front Fans blinking green, nothing else. Then I decided to just perform a Zero-Thingy-Test (putting together just CPU, ram, PSU outside the case, dunno the name). This is where I just don't know anymore. Nothing worked, neither on my Pro4 nor on the K4. PSU did turn on on Paperclip Test, but wouldn't turn on in any other situation. Which is leading me to why I am writing this. I'm really at the edge of my knowledge/the internet I've searched so far. It might just be something stupid, but I'm just not getting behind it.

What I've considered doing now or what I will do if none can help me, is just send CPU, MOBO and maybe RAM (dunno) back and ordering a new one, because that's the only solution I see right now.

Troubleshooting already done:

  • Power Connector Shorting
  • Yes, the PSU is turned on and yes the cable is properly placed and yes the Socket is working and yes I've tried others as well
  • Reseating basically everything, unplugging Drives, Front IO, etc
  • Running only CPU, PSU, RAM outside the case
  • Switching MOBO's
  • Switching PSU
  • Reseating RAM (I've read that am4, in particular, is dependent on this)
  • Using AMD's Stock CPU-Cooler

Conclusion:

I just don't know anymore, I'll gladly take any help I can get. Sorry for my spelling mistakes, I'm frustrated and not a native English Speaker. Thanks for reading my boring post, really appreciate it.
