Hi guys, i'm having trouble setting up my TV with my PC. I have 2080TI connected with 10m hdmi 2.0 cable but I cant get it to do 4k60p 444 with HDR. Is there something I'm missing? I do think my cable is not the best quality. Can you help me out with link to UK seller to get right cable for my set up It has to be a least 8m long for it to reach my TV hisense 65m7000. Thanks for help.

Do you know exactly which version of HDMI 2.0 your cable is? According to Wikipedia, the original version of HDMI 2.0 supports 4k60Hz, but doesn't actually support HDR. The only HDMI 2.0 version that supports HDR is HDMI 2.0a.

Here's an article if you feel like doing some further reading.

Yep, it looks like I was right. That cable is only HDMI 2.0, not HDMI 2.0a. Another clue is that there's no mention of HDR in the item description. You're going to need a new cable if you want to get HDR.

If you can return the cable you got and get an Amazon basics cable. The quality is really great and they are not to exspensive. I have one not quite that long and I have never had an issue with it, I only run it to a 1080p projector. 4 and a half stars from over 5k people you can't go wrong.

Although I agree that AmazonBasics cables are generally good quality, OP needs a very specific type of cable. If you can find an AmazonBasics cable which claims to be HDMI 2.0a compatible, go for it. If not, then you need to find something else.

Will this one do the job? https://www.amazon.co.uk/KabelDirekt-Cable-compatible-FullHD-Ethernet-White/dp/B00FK0YSOY/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=HDMI+2.0a+10m&qid=1573599597&sr=8-3

This one may not work note this, you just might have a too long of a run to support it - Full 4K@60HZ@HDR support up to 3 metres length as per the official specification HDMI 2.0b – depending in the HDMI device used, this is also possible for longer connections, but cannot be guaranteed

Or should I pay extra and get https://www.amazon.co.uk/YEHUA-Fibre-Optic-Ethernet-Support/dp/B07SPW6CXZ/ref=sr_1_14?keywords=HDMI+2.0a+10m&qid=1573599597&sr=8-14

This will work it's an active cable but if you want to spend less get this one. https://www.amazon.co.uk/ATZEBE-Fibre-Optic-Support-18Gbps-Black/dp/B07L2YGG68/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=hdmi+4k+hdr10+active+cable&qid=1573600182&smid=A9YDL8KPZUS76&sr=8-3

Honestly, I don't think I could recommend either. The first one doesn't specify HDR compatability (something you should always look for, because no name Amazon sellers will always try to cut corners), and the second one is super overpriced.

It seems you're kinda in a tight spot. All the cables I've found that claim both HDMI 2.0a and HDR support are much shorter than you need. I'll keep looking, and update this message if I do find anything.

EDIT:

I've found a few options of HDMI 2.1 (able to carry 4k, 120hz, HDR) cables, but they have few reviews. If you really need this cable, go for it, but you might be able to find something better on your own.

In any case, good luck on your search!

4K 60 Hz HDR 4:4:4 exceeds the HDMI 2.0/a/b spec. The limitation is not the cable, no device will support that.

high speed hdmi w/ethernet can do 4k 60hz 444 hdr (i have 2 different tvs, samsung and lg and run it, but any signal flaw will drop it to 30hz, happens every so often) BUT with a cable 10m (32ft) long? hell no ...1.8m/ 6ft max (shorter the better depending on cable quality) after that it needs to be boosted. and might get it to work. 10m (32ft) is just to long. maybe get 4k 60hz 422 but still need some sort of boost

Not unless it's fake HDR with 8 bpc color depth. If it's 10 bpc color depth then it is outside what the spec allows.

oh yea sorry yea only 8 bpc. 10bpc defiantly drops it to 30htz
but hey it still looks good considering :)

Thanks guys for all the help. It look like my only option is optical HDMI but those are quite expensive.

Can you recommend something good quality and price that I can live with.

After browsing for them for more than a day i'm more confuse then ever. On a side note my tv is 8 bit with FRC so I don't know if I should set up my PC with 10 bit or just run it at 8 bit.

you can try something like this.
HDMI 2.0 24AWG cable input resolution 4K/60Hz, RGB 4:4:4, both input and output transmission distance are up to 50 feet/ 15 meters (100 ft/ 30 meters in total)

I was just looking at boosters but do to the fact that my old cable is only 10gb i would have to buy 2 new ones. All and all it would have been 40/50£ and for 50£ I can get 15m optical cable. I think that,s a better option as it will let me use it in a future for other set up. Thanks for info anyways.

  • 3 weeks later...

I just bought a 10m optical cable from amazon and it works like a dream HDR was detected automatically and work perfectly. For 40£ it was worth it. For any one that is having the same problem if you have cable that is more than 7.5m its impossible to play HDR.
