Hey guys,

Summary: I am building a system with r5 3600 cpu+ RX 5700 xt and Philips 328E1CA-00 display(60hz 4k 48-60 range adaptive sync, hdmi 2, displayport 1.2). My goal is to play 4kish(to be explained) at 70 fps/hz with freesync enabled.

The plan: 5700 xt has RIS(radeon image sharpening). RIS can be combined with a lower custom resolution than 4k(3264x1836) to get a native 4k like image at higher fps(40% higher ish). 5700 xt can run most games at highest settings 4k at 35 fps. I want to create different custom resolution levels between 1440p and 4k and use these levels to adjust for fps in different games to hit the sweet spot of 62-66 fps and be within desired overclocked 48-70 hz freesync range.

I want the pc to run at native 4k@60 hz when at windows. When gaming I want to choose resolutions and I want it to those resolutions to be attached to 70 hz refresh rate/freesync range automatically so that I wont need to change refresh rate elsewhere. If this is not possible I might keep on running windows at 70hz too. I would prefer to use AMD control center for such an overclock and options but I am not sure if with AMD control center this is possible. I might need to use CRU. My problem is I have never fiddled with display overclocking. I have no idea how to do

Essential questions: Can somebody tell me if the things I want are possible? and tell me which parts are not possible? Can you tell me what to do to get the desired result?

Specific questions: 1.Can I overclock 4k@60hz screen to 4k@70hz. 2.Does the answer change with the possible connections being hdmi2 and displayport 1.2(I read the bandwith of 1.2 is capable of 4k@75hz)? 3. Does expanding the freesync range to the overclocked 70 hz put more pressure on the display and is this possible? 4. Can I create custom resolutions such that when does resolutions are displayed the display will auto switch to 70 hz and 48-70hz freesync range?
