C# and Compiling

Satlen
Go to solution Solved by Flojer0,

Monodevelop tries to be an open source C# (and .Net) enviroment. But I find it painful to use and I avoid touching it unless I have to.

I have recently started to look into C# as my next lang and I was not able to find a straight answer on compiling C# code.  I was wondering, do you HAVE to use visual studio to compile C# or are there programs like MinGW (C++) or java where I can just download the SDK and all of the stuff is in the install folder.

Thanks in advance :)
