Hi, so I'm planning on buying the parts for what will be my first full build by myself this month (and maybe BF/CM not gonna lie).

Some details:

  • I am located in Spain, so my prices are in euros.
  • My max budget is 1500€ (hard max), not including the parts I already own (specified in the table below).
  • I am going to use this rig for software development (on Linux) and gaming (on Windows, for now).
  • For now I'm targeting 1080p60hz (I know this build is overkill for that), but I'm planning to upgrade to a 1440p144hz monitor in the coming months, so I'd like to have a nice experience there as well even if it's not maxed out.

Here's the parts list:

As you can see, I'm already pretty close to my max budget. I'm reusing the CPU cooler and the SATA SSD from a previous build. Some things I'm not sure of:

  • Is a 2070 Super a good choice at this price point, or should I get a rx5700xt and invest the ~100€ difference in other components?
  • Is there any part that is really overkill for the build?
  • Should I spend 15€ more on a more usual brand of RAM (I hadn't heard of Patriot Viper before, though it's got good reviews)?
  • Is there any unusual 'gotcha' about any of my parts?

General feedback is appreciated. Cheers!

  • Yes, a 5700XT is better value for 1440p.
  • I don't know what sort of software development you are doing, but you can probably save if you bump down your processor to a Ryzen 3600 and the motherboard to a B450/X470.
  • Patriot is good. I've used them in few of the builds I made for my friends.
  • None that I know off.
