Hello everyone,

My name is Tyler. I would like to build a workstation for CAD and some 3D physics modeling. I currently work as a Conductor for a major US railroad, but I would like to transition into the engineering department. I'd like to have a computer where I can work on independent design projects for a portfolio.

I'd like my budget to be about $800US for this build. I think I'd like to do air cooled or AIO, not ready for the custom loop yet, for this system. This would also be my first custom build so I need your help to dial in my selection.

I would like to use a single monitor for this work station, but I'd like to ask if it is possible to run a second virtual machine for my wife in the future. I would also like a mechanical keyboard if possible to fit into the budget.

Thank you for your help and your patience with someone just starting to be able to get into the game.

Also let me know if this budget is unreasonable so that I can rethink the timing or make more room in the budget for a reasonably capable system.

Best,

Tyler
