Hey guys, I'm sort of a newbie with PC. Gamed mostly on consoles up until now. I currently have a Ryzen 5 2600x with a MSI X470 gaming plus motherboard and MSI GTX 1070 ti GPU. I frequently get fatal memory errors for some reason. I have 2x4GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 2666Mhz. I was recently thinking about upgrading my CPU and MoBo to Ryzen 7 2700x and MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon and the Corsair Vengeance RBG Pro 2x8gb DDR4 3200Mhz.

Would overclocking be an issue? Would there even be a need for it at all?

Thank you!

You dont need any overclocking. Overclocking just gives you extra performance. Why would you downgrade your motherboard to b450. That does not make any sense.

I Use my knowledge as business owner and self taught technician aswell as an AI to help people. AI might be controversial but it actually works pretty well 90% of the time.

The RAM is a bad combo with the CPU you have, you need a higher speed on the RAM and 8GB is not the best

1) X470 is better than B450. you would be downgrading.

2) Overclocking isn't needed. It only gives a tiny bit of extra performance in games and a small amount of performance in benchmarks. Overclocking is mostly done these days for measuring scores. Don't worry about it.

3) Even if there was no problem with your memory running out, still replace your RAM with the 8x2 kit. It will probably fix your issue. RYZEN works better with high speed, and basically every computer these days has 16 GB of RAM. Why? Because games these days are demanding. Replace your RAM, see if that fixes the issue, it probably will. If not, it might be some other problem in your computer.

4) Memory can be either RAM or your Storage. See if any of your hard drives or SSD's if you have any are working fine and not making any weird noises or getting very hot.

It is said that an Italian dies every time Spaghetti is broken.

That's why I break mine twice.

Thank you! I'll stick with the X470 MoBo. Do you have any suggestions for RAM? As far as I know, my SSD's are working fine. The errors I get are almost always memory related.
